Stephanie Yuhas, PhD, is the Chair of the Ecopsychology MA and Environmental Studies BA programs at Naropa University, and a Core Associate Professor. She holds a PhD in Religious Studies from the University of Denver, an MA in Ecological Psychology from Vermont College, and a BA from Naropa University. Her expertise spans ecopsychology, environmental ethics, postcolonial studies, and cultural theory. Yuhas teaches courses such as Ecology Applications for Ecopsychology and Deep Ecology, emphasizing the integration of contemplative practice with environmental stewardship.
Her research focuses on climate grief, eco-anxiety, and the intersection of spirituality with ecological crises. She advocates for community-driven solutions to environmental challenges, drawing on indigenous wisdom and mindfulness practices. Yuhas has authored articles on topics like the environmental crisis and presented at conferences such as the American Academy of Religion.
As a leader in Naropa’s programs, she oversees curriculum development, faculty hiring, and program expansion, including an online Environmental Studies BA. Her work highlights the urgency of addressing ecological and social justice issues through education and grassroots activism.
