Dr. Stephanie Wright is a Lecturer in Modern European History at the University of Lancaster, within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS). Her research focuses on disability, psychiatry, sexuality, and gender under the Francoist dictatorship in Spain. She is currently writing a book on maimed Francoist veterans of the Spanish Civil War and exploring sexual violence under Francoism, with a focus on forensic doctors' roles in legal cases. Prior to Lancaster, she held a Wellcome Trust postdoctoral fellowship at Birkbeck College, London, as part of the Sexual Harms and Medical Encounters (SHaME) project.

Her teaching includes modules on modern Spain and disability history. She supervises doctoral students researching gender, disability, mental health, and sexual violence in modern Spain.
Recent academic activities include participation in the Northern Network for Medical Humanities Research Congress and the 'Writing Sexual Violence in the Age of #MeToo' event.
