Araceli Freire Cedeira is a Researcher at the Department of Contemporary and American History, University of Santiago de Compostela. She holds a PhD in History (2008) and a Master’s in Contemporary History (2009), supported by a University Teacher Training Programme (FPU) grant. Her research focuses on agrarian history, forest history, and the social dynamics under Francoist Spain.
Key projects include the 'Red de Agroecología e Historia' network and the 'Historia agraria e política do mundo rural' group. Her work examines rural conflict, property disputes, and gender roles in Galician communities during Franco’s dictatorship. Notable publications analyze the defense of communal forests and women’s involvement in rural social movements.
Current affiliations include the University of Santiago de Compostela, with participation in interdisciplinary initiatives exploring technological and social transformations in Iberian agriculture since 1950.
