Dr Stephanie Wright is a Senior Lecturer at the Medical Research Council (MRC) Centre for Environment and Health, School of Public Health, Imperial College London. She specializes in microplastics research, focusing on detection methods, exposure pathways, and toxicological impacts. Her work spans interdisciplinary projects involving atmospheric microplastics, in vitro models for human health assessment, and policy engagement.
Education: PhD from the University of Exeter, followed by an early career fellowship at King’s College London. Current roles include leading the Microplastics team and coordinating MSc modules on environmental public health science.
Research interests include vibrational/mass spectrometry for microplastics analysis, airborne microplastic sources/fate, and nanoplastics toxicology. She has contributed to policy initiatives via European Commission working groups and national media engagements.
Grants/Awards: UKRI Rutherford Fellowship (2018-2023), MRC-funded project on microplastic toxicity (2018-2021), and NERC project on UK airborne microplastics (2020-2023).
Labs/Teams: Leads the Microplastics Research Team at the MRC Centre, affiliated with the NIHR HPRU in Environmental Exposures and Health.
