Stephanie Vella

Stephanie Vella is a doctoral candidate in Theatre at the Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY), holding the position of Lost & Found Archival Research Fellow. She teaches acting and theatre history courses at the City College of New York (CUNY) and Marymount Manhattan College.

Her research critically examines modernist cultural appropriation through interdisciplinary lenses of animal studies and theories of visuality, exploring power dynamics in representation. She has published scholarly reviews in New England Theatre Journal and Theatre Survey, and co-authored a book chapter analyzing Occupy Wall Street with Maurya Wickstrom in the anthology Manifesto Now! Instructions for Performance, Philosophy, Politics.
