Stephanie Pangborn

Stephanie Pangborn serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication within the College of Arts and Humanities at Clemson University. She also holds the following affiliations: Faculty Associate for the Institute of Engaged Aging, Faculty Fellow for the Service Alliance, and Faculty-in-Residence.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Health Communication, Ohio University
• M.A. in Communication, Western Michigan University
• B.A. in Visual Communication, Spring Arbor University

Research Interests: Dr. Pangborn's scholarship centers on communication practices that cultivate inclusive and compassionate communities, especially in health and aging contexts. Her work addresses hospice care, Alzheimer's and dementias, aging, socially-silenced health experiences, advocacy, and the role of creative arts in health. She has established a partnership with Clemson Downs, a senior living community, to facilitate intergenerational friendships and a Creative Studio for collaborative art and music.

Additional Contributions: Her research has been published in Health Communication, and she has authored book chapters and served as assistant producer for documentaries. Prior to her academic career, she worked in Community Relations for a non-profit health system in Jackson, Michigan.
