Dr. Stephanie Knott is an academic at Charles Sturt University, serving as Associate Head (Learning & Teaching) in the School of Agricultural, Environmental and Veterinary Sciences. She plays a key leadership role in academic quality, curriculum development, and student support across agriculture, animal science, equine science, and veterinary technology programs.
Education:
- BScAgr (Hons I)
- PhD, University of Melbourne
- GCULT
Her research spans two major areas: the scholarship of teaching and learning, with a focus on first-year student transition, and ruminant nutritional physiology, particularly feed efficiency, stress physiology, and energy metabolism in sheep. She has extensive experience teaching animal anatomy, physiology, and endocrinology.
The recent publications reflect a strong emphasis on animal production systems, especially sheep and swine. Key themes include feed efficiency, stress response (HPA axis), reproductive physiology, and behavioral reactivity. Her work integrates physiological measurements with production outcomes, contributing to both animal welfare and agricultural efficiency.
She has published multiple peer-reviewed articles, conference papers, and commissioned reports, with significant citations in Scopus. Her research has explored cortisol response in rams, spatial cognition in sheep, and milking disorders in sows.
Dr. Knott supervises research students, including doctoral candidates, and contributes to academic leadership through roles such as chairing the School Assessment Committee and serving as former Course Director for Animal & Equine Science. She is actively engaged in work-integrated learning and curriculum redesign.
She is affiliated with research platforms including ORCID (0000-0001-5000-6193) and Scopus, and her work is accessible through the university’s research profile and Pure repository.
