Dr. Stephanie Jane Bennett is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Forensic Psychology at the University of Chichester, serving as Programme Coordinator for the BSc Criminology. She holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Plymouth (2011), an MSc in Crime Science Investigation and Intelligence, and additional postgraduate qualifications in Psychology and Education. Previously, she taught at the University of Portsmouth (2011–2021) and the Open University (2018–present).
Her research focuses on policing practices, child development (including children with disabilities), and the impact of crises on families. Notable projects include studies on pandemic policing, police officer retention, and support systems for children of imprisoned parents. She has collaborated with organizations such as the Police Foundation and charities like YSS (Youth Support Services).
