Stephanie Dodson

Stephanie Dodson is an Assistant Professor in the Mathematics Department at Colby College. She holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Brown University, where she collaborated with Björn Sandstede. Previously, she was a Krener Assistant Professor at the University of California, Davis.

Her research focuses on dynamical systems and mathematical biology, particularly the formation and stability of spatiotemporal patterns in excitable media and biological systems. She develops computational methods to study cardiac arrhythmias, nonlinear waves, and agent-based models for migratory behaviors. Her work bridges applied mathematics with real-world applications in cardiology and ecology.

Recent presentations include talks at SIAM conferences, Boston University, and Kennesaw State University, covering topics like spiral wave spectra and curvature effects in cardiac tissue. She actively contributes to professional organizations, including AWM, MAA, and SIAM.

Teaching includes courses on differential equations, numerical analysis, and calculus. She emphasizes diversity and inclusion in STEM through resource curation for students.
