Stephanie Craig

Stephanie Craig is a Lecturer in Precision Medicine at Queen’s University Belfast’s Patrick G. Johnson Centre for Cancer Research, within the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences. Her research focuses on molecular pathology, digital image analysis, and predictive biomarkers in orodigestive cancers (head and neck, oesophageal, colorectal). She employs advanced techniques like multiplex immunofluorescence and spatial biology to study cancer progression and prognosis.

Teaching responsibilities include coordinating the Biostatistical Informatics module (SCM8132/8109) and lecturing in Translational Cancer Medicine (SCM8066). Undergraduate teaching spans case-based learning, biomedical science research projects, and software engineering research supervision. She has supervised 2 postgraduate works.

Research interests include understanding confounding variables in cancer biomarker studies, reproducible research design, and HPV-related cancers. Key collaborations involve the NICRCF Head and Neck Subgroup and global teams in spatial biology.

Awards include the Higher Education Academy Merit Award (2022), Pathological Society International Collaborative Grant (£15k), and Queen’s Degree Plus Award (2017). Her lab develops AI-driven diagnostic tools, such as the T-Cell Response quantification algorithm (True-T) and automated malignant transformation prediction systems.

Recent work addresses HPV’s role in oesophageal adenocarcinoma, AI-based histopathology synthesis, and immune microenvironment dynamics in cancer. She actively participates in international conferences and public engagement initiatives like the Google Women Techmakers Summit and Leica Biosystems Global Webinars.
