Dr. Tricia Cottrell is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at Queen's University, affiliated with the Queen's Cancer Research Institute and the Canadian Cancer Trials Group (CCTG). She holds roles as a Senior Investigator and Deputy Director of the CCTG Tumour Tissue and Data Repository. Her expertise bridges clinical trials, thoracic and genitourinary cancers, and neoadjuvant immunotherapy, with a focus on biomarker development and tumour immune microenvironment analysis.
Dr. Cottrell completed her MD and PhD at Johns Hopkins University, followed by an anatomic pathology residency and postdoctoral training. Her research emphasizes immune-mediated tumour regression mechanisms, particularly in non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC), and the development of standardized pathologic response criteria for immunotherapy. She leads projects integrating multiplex immunofluorescence and digital image analysis to profile pre- and post-treatment tumour tissues.
Research Interests: Tumour-immune interactions, immuno-oncology biomarkers, lung cancer, clinical oncology, and neoadjuvant therapy. Key contributions include defining immune-related pathologic response criteria and extending these to pan-cancer applications.
Dr. Cottrell's lab collaborates with institutions like Johns Hopkins and leverages the AstroPath platform for spatial analysis. She is involved in large-scale clinical trials evaluating anti-PD-1 therapies and repository-based correlative science initiatives.
