Stephanie Carleklev is a Senior Lecturer in Design at the Department of Design, Linnaeus University, within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. She holds an MFA in Design and focuses on visual communication (graphic design, print & information design), transformative design practices, and pedagogies. Her work extends to teaching non-design students and contributing to an advanced course on Education for Sustainable Development for academic staff across disciplines.
Carleklev’s research explores the physical and performative aspects of design practice, emphasizing sustainability and its theoretical and practical implications. She has collaborated with architect Paolo Soleri’s Arcosanti project, fostering early insights into design-sustainability synergies. Her roles include Project Leader for the Climate Emergency Project (2022), Deputy Evaluator for Treklöver Cluster 22 (2021/2022), and Program Director for BA programs in Design + Change (2015–2016) and Design with a Sustainability Specialization (2012–2017). She also served on the Committee for Sustainable Futures (2013–2016).
Her publications highlight themes like care in design education, co-citizen labs for resilience, and agile design theories. These works reflect her commitment to integrating sustainability into design practices and pedagogical frameworks. She has no explicitly mentioned scientific awards but is actively engaged in projects and programs promoting sustainable development and design education.
Advising and grants involve leading pedagogical initiatives and sustainability-focused programs. Her academic contributions bridge design, education, and environmental stewardship, with initiatives like the Co-Citizen Design Labs emphasizing collective making and community resilience. She advocates for relational, inspiring design practices through both teaching and research.
