Stephanie Burns is a Senior Lecturer (Education) in the School of Psychology at Queen’s University Belfast since 2018, specializing in research methods and social psychology. She holds a Master’s in Social Research Methods (2006) and a PhD in Psychology (2013). Her research focuses on intergroup relations in post-conflict societies, educational equity, and peacebuilding, particularly through the evaluation of programs like the PEACE IV initiative. She advises on qualitative methodologies for the Doctorate in Educational, Child and Adolescent Psychology and serves as a Disability Advisor for undergraduates.
Her research spans psychology, education, and peace studies, emphasizing identity, multiculturalism, and inclusive education. She has evaluated over 48 projects, including the Peace4Youth program, and authored studies on gender disparities in STEM education and ADHD experiences in schools. Recognized with awards like the Society for the Study of Peace Small Grant (2018), she also contributes to UN SDGs 4 and 16 through her work.
Teaching includes modules on research methods, cultural psychology, and thesis supervision. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and actively participates in equity initiatives, such as the School’s EDI Working Group and the Migrant and Minority Ethnic Council’s policy consortium.
