Stephan Madaus

Prof. Dr. Stephan Madaus holds a chair at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg since April 2014, where he served as head of the Law School from 2016 to 2018. He is a prominent scholar in insolvency and restructuring law, with significant contributions to European and international insolvency frameworks. He serves as a vice president of the International Insolvency Institute and is a Founding Member of the Conference of European Restructuring and Insolvency Law (CERIL). Prof. Madaus is also a Member of the European Commission's Expert Group on Restructuring and Insolvency.

Prof. Madaus's research interests focus on insolvency and restructuring law, with particular emphasis on comparative analysis of regulatory approaches across jurisdictions worldwide and the soft law of international organizations. His work spans:
