Prof. Dr. Florian Jacoby serves as Professor of Civil Law, Civil Procedure, Insolvency and Corporate Law at Bielefeld University's Faculty of Law. He holds the Chair of Civil Law and serves as deputy member of the Faculty Conference with expertise in legal proceedings, real estate law, insolvency law, condominium law, and civil proceedings.
His research focuses on critical intersections of civil law:
- Insolvency and restructuring through the Working Group Insolvency Law OWL
- Real estate law via the Research Center for Real Estate Law [FIR]
- Corporate and Commercial Law within SPB 2 framework
- Civil procedure and condominium law applications
Professor Jacoby has contributed to J. v. Staudinger's Commentary on the German Civil Code (BGB) 2024 edition, specifically covering Book 1 General Part §§ 164-240 and Limitation Period §§ 194-225 BGB. He actively participates in the ESUG evaluation project assessing Germany's business restructuring legislation (Gesetz zur Erleichterung des unternehmerischen Sanierungsverfahrens).
His scholarly work demonstrates consistent focus on practical applications of civil law in business restructuring and property law contexts.
