Steph Craig is a Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Queen’s University Belfast. She holds roles as Module Coordinator for Professionalism in Nursing and Dementia pathway lead for postgraduate programs. Her research focuses on digital education strategies, knowledge translation for healthcare professionals, and optimizing care for older adults and those with chronic conditions. Active in leadership roles, she chairs the Royal College of Nursing’s Older People’s Forum and leads the NI Pancreatic Cancer VR Simulation project. Awards include the 2024 Nurse Education Provider of the Year and 2023 Cavell Nurses’ Trust Rising Star Award.
Education: PhD in Realist Evaluation of Dementia-Friendly Communities (2025), BSc in Nursing. Teaching responsibilities span undergraduate and postgraduate levels, emphasizing asynchronous learning tools like podcasts and gamification. She supervises MSc and PhD students, with a focus on educational technology and healthcare innovation.
Research Interests: Asynchronous learning approaches, co-design of educational interventions, and improving care in dementia, delirium, and chronic illnesses. Current projects include digital game adaptations for pancreatic cancer awareness and cross-cultural dementia education.
Awards: Over 20 honors including national teaching awards, fellowships, and recognition for her contributions to nursing education and patient care innovation. Media engagement includes national broadcasts and webinars on older adult care and nurse advocacy.
Grants & Funding: Principal Investigator for VR Simulation in Pancreatic Cancer Communication (Northern Ireland Pancreatic Cancer) and Co-Investigator in Cross-Cultural Digital Game Adaptation (China).
