Stefano Fabris

Stefano Fabris is a Researcher at the National Research Council of Italy's Institute of Materials (IOM), where he served as Director from 2018-2023. He holds adjunct professorships at SISSA, University of Trieste, and University of Padova. Previously, he led theory groups at SISSA and Elettra synchrotron facility.

His research specializes in computational materials science with four core themes:

• Energy & Environment Catalysis: Chemical processes at interfaces in gaseous/liquid environments
• Electrochemistry & Photochemistry: Reaction mechanisms at solid-gas/liquid interfaces
• 2D Materials: Design, synthesis and characterization of novel layered structures
• Electron Dynamics: Charge transport and excited-state properties in energy materials

He leads the NanoMat laboratory for atomic-scale materials simulations. His 90+ publications have received 24,000+ citations, and he has delivered 60+ invited talks internationally.
