Stefanie Rudolf is a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (MPIWG) in Berlin, focusing on the history of sciences and religions in Late Antiquity. Her academic journey includes a Master's in Oriental Studies and German linguistics from Erlangen and Aleppo, followed by a PhD at Freie Universität Berlin on Syriac astrology. She previously served as a lecturer and researcher in Semitic Studies at Freie Universität Berlin (2014–2020), teaching Syriac, Ethiopic, and Mandaic. Currently, she contributes to projects like 'New Papyri from Elephantine' (Humboldt-Universität, 2021) and the MPIWG's 'Experience in the Premodern Sciences of Soul and Body' (2022), analyzing Syriac medical texts and wisdom traditions.
Her research interests span linguistic contact, historical linguistics, and the interplay between religious and scientific thought in Syriac, Ethiopic, and Arabic contexts. She is co-editing a Mandaic sourcebook on magic and medicine with Markham Geller and Bogdan Burtea.
