Dr. Stefania Maggi is an Associate Professor cross-appointed between the Department of Psychology and the Childhood and Youth Studies program at Carleton University. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia and specializes in interdisciplinary research addressing climate change impacts, child and youth resilience, emotional intelligence, and pro-environmental behaviors. Her work integrates mixed-methods approaches, including participatory methods, statistical modeling, and arts-based strategies.
Dr. Maggi teaches courses on the psychology of climate change, sustainable development, and human development. She founded Mochi4ThePlanet, a youth-led initiative promoting climate resilience, and serves as an executive member of the Landon Pearson Centre for the Studies of Childhood and Children’s Rights. Additional affiliations include the Pickering Centre for Human Development, Climate Psychology Alliance North America, and Teachers for Future International.
Her research collaborations with global educational and community organizations focus on mitigating climate change’s effects on youth wellbeing and leveraging immersive technologies like video games to foster environmental awareness. Recent publications emphasize eco-anxiety, intergenerational trauma transmission, and participatory approaches to child rights advocacy.
