Stefania Maffei Boillat

Stefania Maffei Boillat is an Assistant Professor (MER 1) in the French Section at the University of Lausanne (UNIL) since 2018, specializing in Old French and Gallo-Romance Philology. She completed her entire academic career at UNIL, progressing from a graduate assistant (2006) to lecturer and assistant professor. She also holds a teaching position at the University of Neuchâtel.

Her research focuses on the linguistic analysis of medieval French texts, particularly those from the early Franco-Provençal domain. Notable work includes her 2015 published thesis: Le Mariale lyonnais (Paris, BNF, fr. 818). Édition, traduction et étude linguistique, which examines linguistic and textual aspects of a 13th-century manuscript. Her contributions extend to broader Romance philology and linguistics, with editorial roles including managing the Archipel essay collection for the French Section.

Active in academic administration, she has contributed to teaching initiatives and research coordination within the Faculty of Letters. Her interdisciplinary work bridges historical linguistics with textual criticism, emphasizing regional language variations in medieval works.
