Stefania Del Prete

Dr. Stefania Del Prete is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), working in the Odom Lab. She previously held dual roles as a University Teacher at the University of Edinburgh and a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Wellcome Trust Centre. Her academic journey includes a joint PhD from the University of Paris-Saclay and the University of Amsterdam, and a Bachelor's in Molecular Biology from the University of Padova.

Her research focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying gene regulation, chromatin dynamics, and immune system differences between sexes during aging. She employs advanced single-cell multiomics technologies to dissect transcriptional and regulatory landscapes in mammalian systems. Her work bridges molecular genetics, epigenetics, and immunogenomics, with implications for understanding aging and sex-biased diseases.

Dr. Del Prete has been recognized with a Marie Curie Fellowship during her doctoral studies through the ITN EpiTRAITS program, highlighting her excellence in interdisciplinary research.

She has contributed to research in both plant and mammalian systems, transitioning from studying gene regulation in Arabidopsis to investigating bivalent chromatin in mouse embryonic stem cells, and now focusing on sex-specific immune responses. Her training spans institutions across Italy, France, the Netherlands, the UK, and Germany, reflecting a highly international academic career.

Outside the lab, she enjoys linguistic creativity, yoga, and exploring food cultures.
