Stefania Barca

Stefania Barca served as the Zennström Visiting Professor in Climate Change Leadership at Uppsala University (2021). Her work focuses on decolonizing climate discourse, climate justice, and the intersection of care work with just transition frameworks. She holds a background in Environmental History and has collaborated with global initiatives like UNRISD's Just Transition Research Collaborative.

During her tenure, her key initiatives included:

• Decentering and Decoloniality: Promoting marginalized narratives in climate justice through webinars with Global South leaders.
• Just Transition and Care Initiative: Linking care work (paid/unpaid) to climate policy via a feminist political ecology lens.

Her research emphasizes narrative justice, challenging capitalist modernity's exclusionary narratives, and amplifying voices of indigenous communities, BIPOC, and frontline defenders. Collaborations included global stakeholders across academia, labor movements, and civil society.
