Max Planck Institute for Sustainable Materialsمعرفی
Prof. Dr. Stefan Wippermann serves as Professor and Guest Group Leader of the Atomistic Modelling group at the Max Planck Institute for Sustainable Materials in Düsseldorf. His primary affiliation is with the Department of Interface Chemistry and Surface Engineering. He holds a PhD from the University of Paderborn (2006-2011) under Wolf Gero Schmidt, with a visiting PhD stint at Tsinghua University (2007-2008). Postdoctoral research was conducted at UC Davis under Giulia Galli (2011-2013) before assuming his current role since 2013.
Research focuses on light-matter interaction at interfaces, electrochemical solid/liquid interfaces, and low-dimensional electronic systems. His work combines atomistic modeling with experimental studies in nanomaterials and surface engineering. Key interests include computational modeling of electronic properties at interfaces, nanostructure design for energy applications, and theoretical studies of electrochemical systems.
Professional trajectory includes leadership of the Atomistic Modelling group since 2013, collaborations across institutions (Germany, China, USA), and contributions to sustainable materials research. No specific awards listed, but his long-term leadership indicates significant academic impact. Laboratory infrastructure includes advanced computational facilities linked to MPI's materials research network.
