Stefan Swanson

Stefan Swanson is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the School of Music, Shepherd University. He is a renowned film and concert composer with over fifty film scores and sixty concert compositions to his credit.

• PhD in Music Composition from Rutgers University
• Master’s degree in Scoring for Film and Multimedia from New York University

Swanson's research and creative work spans film composition, concert music, and music technology. His notable works include scores for films like Gun Hill Road and Premature, and commissions from ensembles like the Ashland Symphony Orchestra. He has conducted and co-orchestrated critically acclaimed documentaries and collaborated with sample library company Embertones.

His scholarly contributions include a chapter on John Williams's A.I.: Artificial Intelligence in a book analyzing the composer's work. He has presented at the Music and the Moving Image Conference in New York City.

Scientific awards and honors include the Susan and Ford Schumann Award, Film Music Museum Award, and Singing City Prize.
