Stefan Schorch

Stefan Schorch is Professor of Biblical Studies at the Faculty of Theology, Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. As of October 2023, he is on leave serving as Professor of Biblical Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He directs the Arbeitsstelle Samaritanerforschung (Research Centre for Samaritan Studies) at Halle-Wittenberg.

Research focuses on Samaritan textual traditions including critical editions of the Samaritan Pentateuch, Samaritan Hebrew lexicography, and Samaritan-Arabic literature corpus development. His work bridges biblical scholarship and Semitic linguistics through philological analysis of ancient texts.

Projects include: Samaritanischer Pentateuch - Kritische editio maior (critical edition of the Samaritan Pentateuch); Samaritanisch-Hebräisches Wörterbuch (Samaritan Hebrew Dictionary); and Korpus der samaritanisch-arabischen Literatur (Corpus of Samaritan-Arabic Literature).
