Prof. Dr. Stefan Scherer is a Professor of Physics at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU), affiliated with the Department of Nuclear Physics. His career includes roles such as Academic Director (since 2011) and Extraordinary Professor (since 2004). He earned his PhD in 1990 from JGU and has held postdoctoral positions at NIKHEF-K (Amsterdam) and TRIUMF (Vancouver). His research focuses on chiral perturbation theory, effective field theories, and quantum field dynamics. He has advised numerous PhD and master's students and holds awards including the Lehrpreis des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz (2007, 2012) and DFG Grants. His teaching spans theoretical physics courses for various degree programs, emphasizing symmetry principles, quantum mechanics, and electrodynamics.
