Univ.-Prof. Dr. Jens Erler is a Professor at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) since 2021. His career includes tenured positions at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) from 2007–2020 and guest scientist roles at institutions like the Helmholtz-Institut Mainz and the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. He specializes in theoretical particle physics, focusing on electroweak interactions, precision tests of the Standard Model, and beyond-Standard-Model physics. His research bridges theoretical calculations with experimental data from colliders and scattering experiments.
Erler has held grants from CONACYT (Mexico), DGAPA, and the German Research Foundation (DFG), supporting projects on electroweak precision observables and new physics searches. He teaches graduate courses in quantum field theory, cosmology, and the Standard Model. Notable contributions include seminal work on the Higgs boson mass, weak mixing angle measurements, and hadronic contributions to electroweak observables. He received the 2018 Medal of the Division of Particles and Fields from the Mexican Physical Society for his research.
He collaborates on projects like the P2 experiment for precision weak mixing angle measurements and contributes to the Cluster of Excellence PRISMA+ at JGU. His work integrates advanced theoretical methods with experimental challenges, addressing fundamental questions in particle physics.
