Stefan Rinke is a tenured Professor at the Latin American Institute of the Free University of Berlin. His research focuses on the history of globalization, colonial history, and the political, cultural, and social history of Latin America from 1492 to the present day, with particular interest in First World War migration, Americanization, aviation history, and football history.
Research Interests: Rinke's work examines transnational connections and global processes in Latin American history. His studies encompass historical consciousness in post-conflict education systems, anti-imperialist movements, Spanish colonial rule, interwar cultural/political exchange, and WWI's impact on Latin America. He also explores historiography, memory work, and globalization's cultural dimensions.
Publications demonstrate his expertise in colonial legacies, national identity formation, and transatlantic interactions through analyses of Austrian diplomatic reports, Colonia Dignidad, historical consciousness, and Latin American urban labor dynamics. His scholarship frequently engages with multilingual primary sources and transnational perspectives.
