Stefan Maier

Professor Stefan Maier holds the Lee-Lucas Chair in Experimental Physics at Imperial College London's Department of Physics, within the Faculty of Natural Sciences. He previously served as Head of the Experimental Solid State Physics Group (2016–2018) and Director of Postgraduate Studies (2014–2018). His research focuses on nanoplasmonics, nanophotonics, metamaterials, and their applications in biosensors, photovoltaics, and photonic nanotechnology. He leads the Centre for Plasmonics and Metamaterials and is affiliated with multiple research groups, including the Experimental Solid State Physics Group and the Quantum Engineering, Science and Technology initiative. His work bridges fundamental physics with engineering innovations.
