معرفی
Prof. Dr. Stefan Jung is a full Professor at the University of Hamburg, holding a position within the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences and the Earth System Sciences / Mineralogical–Petrographical Institute. His work focuses on quantifying geological processes shaping the Earth’s crust and mantle.
Research Interests:
- Geochemistry and isotope geochemistry (U/Pb, Sm/Nd, Rb/Sr, Lu/Hf, Re/Os systems)
- Geochronology and petrology of high-temperature environments
- Crust-mantle evolution and rates of mass transport
- Timing and duration of metamorphism and orogenesis in collisional belts
- Methodological advances in geochronological data interpretation
His field sites span the Proterozoic Damara and Kaoko orogens of Namibia, the Ribeira Belt in Brazil, the European Tertiary volcanic provinces (Rhön, Vogelsberg, Hocheifel, Siebengebirge, Westerwald), the Alpine mountain chain, and additional areas in Oman, Ethiopia, and Sweden.
Laboratory & Field Activities:
Prof. Jung integrates field mapping and sampling with state-of-the-art laboratory isotopic analyses to reconstruct the thermal and temporal evolution of continental crust and mantle domains.
