Helgesson investigates temporal dimensions in colonial contexts, linguistic decolonization, and the institutional frameworks shaping global literary production.
His publication portfolio reveals consistent engagement with Southern African literary traditions, transnational literary systems, and the theoretical frameworks governing world literature. Key themes include the ethics of historical representation, inequality in print culture, and the dynamics of language in postcolonial contexts.
