Prof. Stefan Guldin is a Full Professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), affiliated with the TUM School of Life Sciences. His research focuses on nanoscale material formation and its applications in life sciences, combining molecular self-organization, colloid chemistry, and bio-nanointerfaces to develop sustainable materials for food, health, and environmental sectors. He is also Scientific Co-Director and Resident Principal Investigator at TUMCREATE Ltd. in Singapore for the Proteins4Singapore project.
Education:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Physics at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and Technical University of Munich
- PhD in 2012 from University of Cambridge (Cavendish Laboratory), titled 'Inorganic Nanoarchitectures by Organic Self-Assembly'
- Postdoctoral studies at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (2012–2015)
Research interests revolve around adaptive material architectures, nanoparticle systems, and their applications in biotechnology and environmental solutions. His work bridges fundamental nanotechnology with practical applications, emphasizing sustainability.
Awards include the Royal Society of Chemistry FRSC Fellowship (2023), Stephanie L. Kwolek Award (2023), and Leopoldina Fellowship (2012). His recent publications highlight advancements in nanopore-based DNA detection, computational modeling of colloids, and reversible nanoparticle assembly.
Prof. Guldin’s career includes roles at University College London (Lecturer to Associate Professor) before joining TUM. He collaborates internationally, balancing academic research with industry-relevant projects through TUMCREATE.
