معرفی
Johannes V. Barth is a Professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), leading the Surface and Interface Physics (E20) group within the Physics Department. His research focuses on molecular nanoscience at interfaces, exploring surface chemical processes, heterogenous catalysis models, and functional nanoarchitectures. Utilizing scanning probe microscopy (STM) and advanced spectroscopy, his work investigates charge transfer dynamics, electronic reconfiguration, and molecular self-assembly to design low-dimensional materials and nanotextured surfaces.
As part of the Catalysis Research Center (CRC) and the Munich Catalysis Alliance (MuniCat), his group contributes to projects like the CRC IAS 2D INK. Key research themes include on-surface synthesis of carbon scaffolds, supramolecular tessellation, and quasicrystalline coordination networks. Notable publications include works on porphyrin interfaces and pyrene-fused nanostructures, published in Nat. Chem. and ACS Nano.
His team collaborates on facilities like the Analytic Core Facility and employs techniques such as LT-STM and NEXAFS. While no specific awards are listed, his contributions to surface science and nanotechnology are recognized through his extensive publication record and leadership inCRC initiatives.
