Stefan Grimberg is Professor and Co-Director of the Center of Excellence in Healthy Water Solutions at Clarkson University, with joint appointments in the Coulter School of Engineering & Applied Sciences and Institute for a Sustainable Environment. He holds a PhD in Environmental Science & Engineering from UNC Chapel Hill, an MS in Environmental Engineering from UNC, and a Diplomingenieur in Chemical Engineering from Technical University Munich.
Research focuses on biological water/wastewater treatment, renewable energy from anaerobic digestion, and pollutant fate. Current projects investigate ammonia recovery, electrochemical oxidation for algal bloom control, and nutrient recycling from agricultural waste.
Grimberg has secured over $5M in grants from NSF, EPA, USDA and DOE. He co-founded ResET Water and Resource Recovery Management, and mentors student chapters of environmental engineering societies.
