Starla Ivey serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Human Development and Family Science at the University of Kentucky, contributing to both the Human Development & Family Science (B.S.) and Family Financial Counseling (B.S.) undergraduate programs.
Dr. Ivey earned her Ph.D. in Human Resources Education from the University of Missouri in 2002, providing foundational expertise for her academic work. Her educational background aligns with the department's focus on human development across the lifespan and family dynamics.
Her research interests span human development, family science dynamics, and family financial counseling, reflecting the department's dual focus on psychological development and practical financial education for families. These areas support the department's mission to prepare students for careers in family services, counseling, and financial education.
As part of the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Dr. Ivey contributes to a department that offers comprehensive undergraduate programs including career tracks, internships (HDF 499), and specialized 4-year plans for students pursuing careers in family sciences.
