Stanislav Semerdzhiev

Prof. Stanislav Semerdzhiev is the Rector of the National Academy of Dramatic Arts and Sciences (NATFA) in Sofia, Bulgaria. He holds a Professor rank in Screen Arts and leads the Department of Pre-Production and Production within the Faculty of Screen Arts. Born in 1963, he graduated with distinction from the English High School in Plovdiv and earned his academic background in Cinema Studies at VITIZ. Specializing in screenwriting and production in Los Angeles and Munich, he has authored over 60 film scripts and directed critically acclaimed works like Авантюрата Хамлет. As a four-time elected Rector of NATFA, he has championed international partnerships, modernizing academic programs and infrastructure. His research focuses on global screenwriting traditions and the intersection of technology with artistic expression. Semerdzhiev has served as Jury President in over 50 international film festivals and chairs the World Association of Film and TV Higher Education Institutions (SILECT). Awards include the Golden Muse and honorary doctorates.
