Staffan Karlsson is a Professor at the Faculty of Health Science, Kristianstad University, with a focus on aging and dementia care. He serves as a merited teacher and holds affiliations with the Department of Nursing and Integrated Health Sciences, PROCARE (Patient Reported Outcomes - Clinical Assessment Research and Education), and Forskningsplattformen Hälsa i samverkan.
His research spans descriptive and intervention studies involving older adults and dementia patients, with a strong emphasis on welfare technology applications. Key projects include the European RightTimePlaceCare initiative, sensor-based fall risk screening (PreSens), and ethical aspects of welfare technology implementation. He has supervised multiple doctoral students and contributed to cross-sectional studies on nutritional interventions using colostrum-based products.
