Stacy Doore is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Colby College, where she teaches courses such as Creating Future Worlds: Computing, Ethics, and Society and leads the INSITE Lab. Her research focuses on emerging assistive technologies, multisensory information access, computing ethics, and computer science education. She co-created the Computing Ethics Narratives (CEN) project, which develops ethics curricula and assessments, and oversees student mentorship in this area.
Dr. Doore collaborates with the Autonomous Vehicle Research (AVR) group, which includes institutions like Northeastern University and the University of Maine. The group won 3rd prize in the U.S. DOT Inclusive Design Challenge for their AVA app, improving accessibility in autonomous vehicle systems. The INSITE Lab specializes in non-visual navigation solutions for blind/visually impaired individuals and uses mixed reality for spatial exploration.
Her work integrates accessibility into technology design, with projects ranging from natural-language interfaces for STEM accessibility to co-designed assistive robotics. She actively promotes inclusive educational practices and ethical frameworks in computing, emphasizing practical applications for marginalized communities.
