Stacey Horn

Stacey Horn is a Professor and Department Head in the Department of Family Social Science at the University of Minnesota's College of Education and Human Development, holding the Campbell Leadership Chair. She earned a PhD in Human Development from the University of Maryland, an MA in Teaching of English from the University of St. Thomas, and a BA in Child Development and English from the University of Minnesota (Summa Cum Laude). Her research focuses on reducing sexual orientation and gender identity-based prejudice, bias-motivated bullying among adolescents, and creating equitable school environments for LGBTQ youth. She has led applied research initiatives like Communities Aligning for School Transformation and served on committees such as the Society for Research in Child Development's Equity and Justice Committee.

Key areas of interest include adolescent reasoning about peer harassment, school policy impacts, and community-university collaborations. Horn has authored/co-authored books including Sexuality, Gender Identity and Schooling and volumes on equity in developmental science. She has received accolades like the 2025 CEHD Leadership Award and the 2017 University Scholar Award. Her work emphasizes values-based, participatory approaches to addressing systemic inequities in education and youth development.
