Stéphane Le Gac is a CNRS Researcher at the University of Rennes, leading the Pyrrolic Macrocycles and Bio-inspired Processes group since 2022 at the Rennes Institute of Chemical Sciences. His career spans postdoctoral research at the Free University of Brussels and Radboud University, followed by a CNRS researcher appointment in Rennes (2009). He obtained his PhD in organic chemistry in 2006 under Prof. I. Jabin at the University of Le Havre and his Habilitation in 2014.
- Research Focus: Porphyrinoids, supramolecular coordination chemistry, and bio-inspired molecular systems
- Key Interests: (Anti)aromaticity control, chirality transfers, Möbius twisted receptors, and molecular switches
His work on hexaphyrin-based receptors explores dynamic processes like isomorphic equilibrium, conformational inversion, and ligand exchange, aiming to create complex systems integrating mechanical bonds, out-of-equilibrium dynamics, and biological scaffolds. Recent publications highlight innovations in chiroptical switching, aromaticity modulation, and biomolecular tools for photochemical therapies.
Stéphane's research bridges fundamental coordination chemistry with bio-inspired molecular machinery, targeting novel applications in catalysis, recognition, and adaptive materials.
