Srikant Rangaraju, MBBS, MS, is an Associate Professor of Neurology and Academic Division Chief at Yale School of Medicine. He specializes in vascular neurology and is a physician-scientist focused on immune-mediated mechanisms in neurodegeneration and stroke. His research combines pre-clinical models, multi-omics approaches, and clinical studies to identify therapeutic targets like the Kv1.3 potassium channel, which modulates neuroinflammation in Alzheimer’s and stroke. He leads the Rangaraju Lab, funded by NIH since 2016, and is a Standing Member of an NIH Study Section. Dr. Rangaraju’s clinical practice focuses on stroke care in inpatient and outpatient settings. His educational background includes an MBBS from Christian Medical College, India, neurology residency at Emory University, vascular neurology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, and postdoctoral training in neuroimmunology at the University of California.
Research interests include molecular changes in neurons/glial cells, protein-level proteomic mechanisms, and clinical biomarkers for stroke. Notable contributions include developing the CIBOP tool for in vivo proteomic analysis and identifying Kv1.3 as a therapeutic target. His work bridges basic science and clinical applications to address unmet needs in neurodegenerative and cerebrovascular diseases.
