Spyros Paparrizos

Spyros Paparrizos is an Assistant Professor in the Earth Systems and Global Change department at Wageningen University & Research. His research focuses on developing climate information services for agricultural decision-making, disaster risk management, and climate adaptation strategies in vulnerable regions like the Global South and Europe. He collaborates extensively with international teams on projects addressing climate change impacts on agriculture, water resources, and wildfire dynamics.

Key research interests include hydroclimate modeling, weather forecasting integration, and participatory approaches to enhance climate resilience. His work emphasizes bridging scientific data with local knowledge systems to improve outcomes for smallholder farmers and policymakers. Recent activities include a 2022 lecture on Water & Climate Information Services and co-supervising PhD projects on food security, wildfire management, and integrated modeling frameworks.

Dr. Paparrizos has contributed to 19 peer-reviewed articles since 2020, with notable work on the DROP app for agricultural forecasts and climate service evaluations in Bangladesh. His projects often involve multidisciplinary teams addressing complex challenges such as gender-sensitive policies for food security and climate-resilient food systems.
