Spyros Masouros is an Associate Professor in Injury Biomechanics at Imperial College London's Department of Bioengineering, part of the Faculty of Engineering. He serves as Associate Director (Research) at the Royal British Legion Centre for Blast Injury Studies and directs the Injury & Reconstruction Test Suite. His work focuses on musculoskeletal trauma, particularly in the lower extremities, pelvis, and spine, combining clinical, experimental, and computational methods to improve injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation strategies.
Key affiliations include the Centre for Blast Injury Studies, Musculoskeletal Medical Engineering Centre, Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Technology Network, and Wound Healing and Regeneration Network. His research spans biomechanical modeling of blast injuries, material characterization for protective systems, and clinical applications in trauma care.
Recent publications emphasize pelvic binder efficacy, spinal injury mechanisms, and pressure ulcer prevention. He collaborates across disciplines to address military and civilian trauma challenges, with a focus on translational research and technological innovation in medical devices and protective systems.
