Spencer Rand is a Clinical Professor at Temple University's Beasley School of Law, leading the Temple Legal Aid Office. He specializes in clinical legal education, health law, and public interest advocacy, with a focus on representing indigent clients with HIV, cancer, and disabilities. He has held progressive roles from Assistant Clinical Professor (2006) to his current position since 2016. Rand earned a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University Law School, an M.S. from Case Western Reserve University, and a B.A. from the University of Chicago.
His research explores ethical advocacy, poverty law, and interdisciplinary approaches to legal education. Notable publications include analyses of welfare policy, social justice pedagogy, and disability rights. He has managed grants for community legal programs and served as Executive Director of the Legal Clinic for the Disabled (1997–2000).
Rand's work bridges clinical practice and academia, emphasizing outreach to underserved communities. His teaching and scholarship reflect over two decades of direct client representation and systemic advocacy in public benefits, housing, and family law.
