Spencer Martin is a Clinical Professor of Music and Associate Director of the Lionel Hampton School of Music at the University of Idaho, where he also serves as Director of Athletic Bands. He is affiliated with the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences and leads the Vandal Marching Band, Basketball Bands, and other ensembles.
His educational background includes a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in percussion performance and pedagogy from the University of Idaho, studying under Dan Bukvich, Ronnie Bedford, John Baldwin, and James Harrison.
Spencer Martin's research and artistic interests include percussion performance, jazz studies, music pedagogy, ethnomusicology (especially Basque music), traditional arts, and band direction. He is deeply involved in both concert and jazz band education, with a strong emphasis on performance excellence and cultural expression.
