Dr. Sparky Booker is an Assistant Professor in Medieval Irish History at Dublin City University's School of History and Geography since 2021. Previously, she served as a lecturer at Queen’s University Belfast (2016–2021) and held postdoctoral roles at Swansea University (2014–2016). Her research focuses on Irish social history, medieval legal frameworks, gender dynamics, and cultural exchange in late medieval Ireland. She authored the award-winning monograph *Cultural Exchange and Identity in Late Medieval Ireland* (2018) and co-edits *Studia Hibernica*. Active in academic committees, she serves on the Friends of Medieval Dublin and Irish Legal History Society. A Fellow of the Higher Education Authority since 2019, she teaches courses like 'Medieval History' (HY234) and 'Medieval Ireland' (HY223).
Research interests include Irish clergy networks (2014), intermarriage patterns between English and Irish elites (2013), and legal agency of medieval women. Her work bridges legal, social, and gendered dimensions of colonial Ireland. Recent publications analyze sumptuary laws (2021), women’s legal roles (2022), and ethnic enclaves (2022). Awards include dual recognition from the American Conference for Irish Studies (2019). Outreach activities include public lectures on medieval Dublin’s history.
