Soumitra Dutta is the Peter Moores Dean and Professor of Management at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, and a Fellow of Balliol College. He previously served as the founding Dean of Cornell SC Johnson College of Business and held leadership roles at INSEAD and HEC Paris. His research focuses on innovation in the knowledge economy, particularly the interplay between technology and human capital to drive business growth. He leads the Global Innovation Index (GII) and co-founded the Portulans Institute, a non-profit research institute.
Education: B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi; MS and PhD in Computer Science from UC Berkeley. Awards include the 2017 Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT Delhi.
Key engagements include advisory roles for global business schools, board memberships at Dassault Systèmes and Sodexo, and contributions to the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Innovation Ecosystems. He teaches courses on AI strategy and digital transformation for MBA and executive programs.
