Soumitra Bhuyan

Soumitra Bhuyan, Ph.D., M.P.H., is an Associate Professor and Executive Director of the Health Administration Programs at the Bloustein School of Rutgers University. He leads the undergraduate Health Administration program, the nationally ranked Master of Health Administration (MHA) program, and the newly established Doctor of Health Administration (DHA) program. His roles include overseeing strategic planning, curriculum development, and alumni engagement. Dr. Bhuyan holds a Master of Public Health from Western Kentucky University and a Ph.D. in Health Services Research, Administration, and Policy from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

His research focuses on chronic disease management, health information systems, and population health, with a focus on informatics applications. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and contributes to national media outlets like The Hill and Becker’s Hospital Review. He is an Accreditation Fellow for the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) and serves on editorial boards, including BMJ Global Health and The Journal of Health Administration Education.

Dr. Bhuyan’s awards include the 2025 National Leadership Excellence Award (Baldrige Foundation/CAHME), the 2013 American Public Health Association’s Rising Star Award, and the 2017 Charles E. Gibbs Leadership Prize. He is co-editing an upcoming textbook on healthcare management with Springer.

His work bridges academia and policy, emphasizing healthcare cybersecurity, accreditation standards, and graduate education. He is actively involved in CAHME’s Standards Council, shaping accreditation processes and policy recommendations.
