Sorin Fedeles is an Assistant Professor Adjunct in Nephrology at Yale School of Medicine, part of Yale University. He leads a research program focused on target identification and drug discovery for Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD), employing CRISPR/Cas9 screens and single-cell RNAseq. His work includes developing novel models for ER protein folding and collaborating with MIT on therapeutic compounds, securing ~$5.2M in grants. He co-founded academic spinouts and serves as Executive Director of the Polycystic Kidney Disease Outcomes Consortium at Critical Path Institute, leading clinical biomarker and trial simulator projects.
Education: PhD in Genetics (Yale University), MBA in Healthcare (Yale School of Management), MS in Biological and Biomedical Sciences (Yale University).
Research Interests: ADPKD mechanisms, ER stress pathways, translational drug development, biomarker discovery. His lab explores genetic interactors like VCP and XBP1, with recent studies on Ire1α-Xbp1 modulation and synthetic agents targeting cystic cells.
Grants & Awards: Over $5.2M from NIH, DoD, and PKD Foundation; 2019 PKDF Young Investigator Award. Active in peer review for journals like Journal of the American Society of Nephrology and grants committees.
Labs & Teams: Leads interdisciplinary teams at Critical Path Institute, collaborating with bioengineering and clinical groups on preclinical trials and drug development pipelines.
