Sorelle Friedler is the Shibulal Family Professor of Computer Science at Haverford College and a Nonresident Senior Fellow at The Brookings Institution. She previously served as Assistant Director for Data and Democracy in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, co-authoring the AI Bill of Rights and shaping federal AI policy. Her research focuses on fairness, accountability, and transparency in machine learning, with applications to social networks and materials discovery. She co-founded the ACM Conference on Fairness, Accountability, and Transparency (FAccT).
